Who are we?
Kazi’s Tutorial began as a way to serve the minority South Asian community in Buffalo, NY. Our mission is to provide affordable tutoring services to help nurture young minds in helping build the foundations to excel in their futures – we are beyond standardized test prep. We believe in training students’ minds for self-improvement and guiding them through mentorship. Since opening in January 2021, we have successfully admitted all our students who have attended our program into OLMSTED/CITY HONORS, and all our SAT students who have completed the full course have received a score above 1300.
Meet The Team
Kazi Mahmud
CEO & Head Tutor
Kazi's tutoring career experience began in 2012 at Khan's Tutorial as an intern and worked his way up to become Manager of KT Brooklyn Branch. From his time there, 2012 to 2018, Kazi has taught K-8, SHSAT, Regents, AP/IB, SAT, and ACT. He then relocated to Buffalo in 2018 and started working at a non-profit College Prep program as an Academic Coach for High Schoolers. Since his start there he has worked with regents, AP students and started an SAT Prep Course. He then rose to the position of supervisor for the College Prep Program. With over 10 years of experience, your child is in the right hands. Kazi graduated from UB with a degree in Biology & Pharmacology/Toxicology. Currently Kazi works for a software company doing QA. During his free time, Kazi enjoys a good game of Chess and watching Basketball. His favorite team is the New York Knicks.
Alvi Mahmud
Tutor
Alvi is currently attending University at Buffalo majoring in Electrical Engineering . He is the Valedictorian and has received an SAT score of a 1520. Alvi has been tutoring students for 3 years and enjoys teaching Math, Science and English. He specializes in Earth Science, Algebra 1, and Chemistry. During his free time, Alvi loves to draw art and watch anime.
Ahanaf Abdullah
Tutor
Ahanaf is currently attending the University at Buffalo majoring in Business. He has received an SAT score 1310 and specializes in teaching Physics and Math. During his free time Ahanaf enjoys a good game of Basketball.
Hasan Jamil
Intern/tutor
Hasan is a Senior at City Honors High School. Hasan assists our tutors in grading, teaching, and has a great ability to connect with the students. During his free time, Hasan loves play soccer and his favorite team is Manchester City and his favorite player is Messi.
Ahmed Nazir
Intern/Tutor
Ahmed is a Senior at City Honors High School. Ahmed assists our tutors in grading, teaching, and has a great ability to connect with the students. During his free time, he loves to watch Basketball and Football. His favorite teams are the Bills and the Celtics.
Nafisa Shamim
Director of Programming
Nafisa a graduate of Canisius University ULLC program triple major in Political Science, Sociology and Criminal Justice. She is also a graduate of Olmsted High School and has taught students there for 3 years. She was also an Academic Coach at a non-profit and teaches high school for English and Social Studies. Currently Nafisa is a paralegal at an immigration law firm. Nafisa will further pursue her studies in Law School to become a successful Attorney. During her free time Nafisa enjoys painting and cooking.
Tajmim Rizma
Tutor
Tajmim is currently attending the University of Buffalo majoring in Bio-Medical Engineer. She was the valedictorian graduate of Olmsted High School. She also received an SAT score of 1480. Tajmim has been tutoring students at Olmsted for 3 years and enjoys teaching math, science, and English. During her free time, Tajmim enjoys playing badminton and reading a good book.
